About Enitting
What is Enitting?
Enitting is a web-based editor for drawing, saving, and sharing knitting charts. Draw grid-based charts with colors and knitting symbols, and export them as actual-size PDFs based on your gauge. It's for anyone who works with charts — designers who create and sell patterns, knitters who want to put their own characters and drawings into their projects, and students in knitting courses or certificate programs.
Account & Settings
How do I sign in?
Enitting supports Google sign-in only. Select Sign in, then choose your Google account. No separate password is needed.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account from the Settings page. Your data can be restored within 30 days of deletion; after that it is permanently removed.
How do I change the language?
On desktop, use the language selector in the footer; on mobile, use the language selector on the Settings page to switch between Korean and English. On your first visit, the language is set automatically based on your browser.
Using the Editor
How do I use the editor?
The Full Tutorial starts when you first open the editor. To replay it, go to Settings > Tutorials in the editor and select 'Full Tutorial.' You can also find detailed tutorials for Move, View mode, Grid settings, and other tools there. Hover over a tool button, or press and hold it on a touch device, to see its name and shortcut.
What is gauge and why does it matter?
Gauge is the number of stitches (width) and rows (height) in 10cm of knitting. The finished size can vary with your yarn, needles, and tension. Knowing your gauge helps you estimate the finished size. Enter your gauge in the editor's grid settings panel. Each cell's proportions adjust to match the shape of your stitches, so you can view the chart at proportions similar to the finished fabric. The measurement ruler (cm/inch) and actual-size PDF export also use this gauge to calculate the chart's dimensions.
Which knitting symbols can I use?
You can select symbols from the palette by category, including knit and purl, increases and decreases, and cables. The library is still small, and we continue to add symbols. If you need a symbol, let us know through Contact.
Can I convert a photo or image into a chart automatically?
Not yet. For now, charts are drawn by hand in the editor. Automatic image conversion is being considered for a future update.
Saving, Data & Pricing
How are my charts saved?
Charts created in My Charts are saved to your signed-in account. Changes are saved automatically as you work, and an internet connection is required.
Can I continue working on another device?
Yes. Charts are saved to your account, so sign in with the same account and you can pick up right where you left off on any device — PC, tablet, or phone.
Can I recover a deleted chart?
You can't restore a deleted chart yourself, so delete it carefully. Contact us if you need help.
Is Enitting free?
All features are currently free. A monthly subscription is planned for the future, and we will announce details in advance.
Can I export charts as images or PDF?
You can save your chart as a PDF, PNG, or JPEG file with the editor's export feature.
Can I print charts at actual size?
Turn on 'actual size' in PDF export to print the chart at its gauge-based dimensions. Charts larger than one page are split across multiple pages. You can also set the paper size, orientation, and margins. For accurate dimensions, select 'actual size (100%)' rather than 'fit to page' in your printer settings.
Sharing & Community
How do I make a chart public or private?
You can switch a chart between public and private from the chart view. Public charts appear in the home feed, search, and your profile; private charts are visible only to you. This option may not be available for all chart types.
Why doesn't my chart appear on the home feed?
The home feed only shows public charts with a certain amount of painted cells beyond the background. Nearly empty charts (such as blank graph-paper-style grids) are hidden from the feed to keep it browsable, but you can still find them via search. Also make sure your chart is set to public — private charts don't appear on the home feed or in search.
Can I duplicate or adapt a chart?
Use the duplicate button in My Charts to copy your own charts. To edit someone else's public chart, select 'Make a variation' on the chart screen. The new chart does not affect the original and shows its relationship to the original chart. When you publish a variation, respect the original creator's copyright.
Can I sell patterns I make here?
Yes. You own the copyright to charts you create yourself, so you're free to export them (e.g., as PDF) and sell them. However, charts based on someone else's characters, illustrations, or patterns can't be used commercially.
Can I upload charts based on copyrighted artwork (characters, etc.)?
Even if you drew the fan art yourself, the copyright in the character belongs to the original creator. You are responsible for what you post, and charts may be hidden or removed if the rights holder objects or reports are filed. Selling character charts or otherwise using them commercially is prohibited.
Can I recreate and post a paid pattern that someone else sells?
No. Recreating a pattern that another designer sells and posting it publicly is copyright infringement and prohibited by our Terms of Service. Keeping a copy private for personal use is fine, but publicly posted infringing charts are hidden through reports, and repeated violations may lead to account sanctions.
How do I report an inappropriate chart?
Select the report button on the chart screen, choose a reason, and submit your report. Submitted reports are reviewed, and charts with accumulated reports are hidden automatically.
Troubleshooting
Which browsers and devices are supported?
Enitting supports modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox) on desktop, tablets, and phones, including touch input and digital pens such as Apple Pencil. Editing large charts may not run smoothly on phones.
Can I use it on an iPad with Apple Pencil?
You can use both touch and stylus input. On touch devices, the input mode button in the toolbar cycles through Draw → Pencil → View. Select Pencil mode to draw with the stylus only. You can move the chart with your finger, and palm touches do not draw.
Can I install Enitting as an app?
There's no app-store app, but you can add Enitting to your home screen and use it full-screen like an app.
If the button does not add the app, follow the steps below to add it manually.
Installation steps by device
- 1Open this page in Safari, then tap the Share button in the toolbar — at the bottom on iPhone, at the top on iPad.Share
- 2Scroll down the Share menu and select 'Add to Home Screen'.Add to Home Screen
- 3Tap 'Add' at the top right. An icon appears on your home screen.Add
If your iOS language is English, the option is shown as 'Add to Home Screen'. Since iOS 16.4, other browsers such as Chrome also have this option in their Share menu.
Can I use it offline?
No. Charts are saved to our servers, so an internet connection is required — including when you've added it to your home screen and use it like an app.
Why does my tab suddenly reload while editing?
The system may reload a tab when device memory is low. Changes are saved automatically as you work, but changes made after the last save may be lost. If this happens often, close other tabs and apps before continuing.
